The heart of my work is pet portraits and memorial portraits. If you’ve loved someone or lost someone with fur, feather or fins, I’m the artist you turn to. They are more than just a pet or zoo animal. They are family.
I’m Amanda.
For 32 years I worked as a zookeeper and animal care provider, which sounds like a job title but was really an apprenticeship in humility. I learned that fish have personalities, that plovers have something like a 50-word vocabulary, and that the animals we think we understand are, mostly, still strangers to us. Now I have the privilege of representing my experiences through paint and writing.
